Domestic burglary up by 30%
Statistics from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have shown that domestic burglary has risen by 30%. This, of course, raises massive concerns for our nation’s residential security and we at SmokeCloak will be looking into just how bad the situation is and what we can do to protect ourselves, our families, and our homes.
The report showed overall crime in the UK to be up by 14%. This included a 29% rise in robberies, a 23% rise in sex offences, a 21% rise in knife crime and a 20% rise in violent crime. One of the largest increases, however, was in the number of domestic burglaries recorded. 261,915 domestic burglaries were recorded in the year up to September 2017, representing a 32% rise on the previous year.
This, naturally, is leaving much of the British public concerned for its residential security. Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own home, but these statistics are leading many Britons to fear for the safety of themselves, their families and their property.
Old residential security systems are now obsolete
It is time, therefore, for a new solution to residential security. Existing systems, such as burglar alarms or CCTV, are clearly not working. This is the case for many reasons. Nowadays, should the burglar alarm go off at your home, your neighbours will most likely ignore it and, chances are, you are guilty of ignoring theirs on a few occasions, too. More to the point, a burglar alarm requires a rapid response in order to stop the criminals before they get away with your belongings. Unfortunately, the average intruder only spends 3-5 minutes on-site, which makes it very difficult to get to the scene quick enough to stop them before they successfully escape with your cash, jewellery, technology, and so forth.
The same applies in the case of CCTV. Furthermore, CCTV would require to be constantly monitored in order to ensure a quick enough response time to prevent the intruders from making their escape with your belongings. Likewise, CCTV doesn’t do nearly as much as it should to help catch the burglars after the crime has taken place, as the simply donning of a scarf, hat or balaclava can sufficiently disguise their appearance enough for them to not be traced.
SmokeCloak is the only residential security system that can combat the rise in domestic burglary
SmokeCloak, unlike these conventional security systems, both deters criminals in the first place and actively prevents them from getting away with your belongings. As soon as an intruder enters your home, an impenetrable cloud of smoke is deployed, making it impossible to see anything at all. This forces the intruder to flee, as they cannot steal your belongings if they can’t even see their hand in front of their face.
This makes SmokeCloak the perfect proactive residential security measure for your home.
